Hey folks,
It’s been a while since the last devblog as I’ve been dealing with a lot of other things in my life for the last few months, but there are also many new shaderpack things to go through now as I’ve done quite an update roundup recently, especially for my free packs.
I do plan to get back into a more regular update schedule again now, after life throwing all sorts of stress and personal struggles at me for the last few months, which finally seems to have stopped now (thankfully).

Recently released updates
As most of you have probably seen by now, I’ve released a pretty sizable batch of updates of my free packs recently. I felt like it was time for some overdue maintenance that I somehow didn’t find the time for before, which is why those updates consist of a lot of smaller and/or quality of life improvements such as various bugfixes, new settings and updates to specific effects. FastPBR also released with the more noteworthy addition of Distant Horizons support now.

It’s probably more sensible to direct you to the update posts now, since you’ll be able to get a much better picture of all the changes that way:
- Kappa Shader v5.3: Link
- Nostalgia Shader v5.1: Link
- Vanilla Plus Shader v3.3: Link
- FastPBR v2.0: Link
- UShader v2.2: Link
Upcoming Updates
As you might suspect I still have some updates for Potato Shader, Simplicissimus and Soft Voxels Lite in the pipeline, but I had a few more interesting additions in mind for these three and felt like it’d make more sense to release them with those. The former two will be receiving slightly expanded labPBR capabilities thanks to a new faux-metal shading approach that I came up with, which allows for some reasonably good rendering of metals at a very low performance cost, despite the lack of specular reflections in those packs (which would completely annihilate the relative performance anyways).
Soft Voxels Lite might go through a more substantial catch-up with its full version, given the sheer amount of extra features that it has received since the last Lite release. I’ll give more detail on that when I get to it, as I also want to update the full version in various aspects before that.
Distant Horizons support for KappaPT is also still in the pipeline, as well as for Soft Voxels and I’ll get to work on that soon now that I have more time and energy for that stuff again. As always I’ll keep you updated on the status of that.

Closing words
Thankfully things are finally settling down a bit for me, so I can actually get back to dedicating more time to my shaderpack stuff and other projects that I either haven’t finished or didn’t even manage to start working on, which is a nice and very welcome change of pace for me after being in a weird perma-stress state since last autumn. I’ll definitely have pay more attention to that so that I can avoid running into this sort of situation again, learning from mistakes and all lol.
Last but not least, a huge thanks to my supporters on Patreon for sticking around through my recent update drought, I’ll most definitely try to get back to my regular update pacing now!
