This suit was an interesting one to adapt, as there was rather little shown of it outside of trailers and the occasional behind the scenes- or promotional pictures when I originally worked on it, which meant that I had to improvise quite a lot to fill in the numerus gaps that left. The model also went through a couple revisions and revamps until I ended up with its current and much more polished state.
While the bodysuit looks mostly faithful to the on-screen suit I still had to improvise quite a lot, especially when it came to smaller details or the entire back of the suit, since those parts were simply not really shown at that time. For the back I pretty much tried to mirror the design that was seen on the front of the suit, as that felt like the most appropriate approach to get a reasonably consistent look. In addition to that I’ve also given it a bit more segmentation by giving different areas of the bodysuit slightly different materials, so that it looks more like its actually made with different types of plating based on what’s needed on that area of the suit.
I’ve also taken some liberties on the gloves, as the original design of the knuckle pads simply didn’t look good to me when I tried making those, so I came up with the segmented metal knuckle pads it uses now instead.
The cowl was also somewhat tricky to get right on this one, as it has a somewhat distinct and more fitted look than on the previous suits from the Burton movies. I think I managed to replicate its look quite well though, while also still keeping a bit of consistency with the previous suits. An addition of mine however is having the thin segmentation lines go all the way around the back of his neck, as opposed to just being visible on the sides since this simply felt like it made more sense to me.
Last but not least, I’ve also made a dedicated aged version of my Michael Keaton-based face model for this suit.
