This was yet another suit where there was very little reference material when I made the model, and so I set off and improvised a lot of the look along the way again. This has resulted in some more unique elements compared to the other Burton suits I’ve worked on, such as the padded and much more angular and artificial looking abdomen design I came up with.
Since this suit was supposedly set to be used in-universe before the 1989 movie it felt rather fitting for it to lean a bit more into more strange and less refined design aspects that’d mesh rather well with Tim Burton’s unique visual language. The rest of the bodysuit is largely also a heavily stylised muscle suit that’s supposed to have some embedded plating in most areas and overall I’d say it turned out quite well and with a very distinctive look.
I also tried to really give the cowl a more unique look as well, while still keeping some of the design language of the previous Burton batsuits, so it comes with straightened out and very pointy ears, a thick yet somewhat shaped neck á la 1989 and some rather different shaping of the collar section, especially when it comes to the sculpted in collar bone and neck muscle shapes. The latter flow into the emblem and almost surround it, which felt like a nice variation from the usual approach of having them terminate into the collar bones.
The gliding cape here is a bit of a variation of the cape that I’ve made for the 1989 batsuit, as that seemed reasonable and fitting when considering the potential suit progression into the latter.
