Supporter Updates 2023-11

Hey folks,

It‘s time for a small update again as I’ve been working on some minor quirks of KappaPT and NostalgiaVX, as much as my available spare time allows me to do so atm anyways.

KappaPT P17c

I’ve focused on the shortcomings that were introduced with the rework in the past few weeks, especially since I currently lack the time for any further sweeping changes, but ironing out the various smaller issues isn’t a bad thing either. Nonetheless there have been some substantial changes since version P17, so I’ll include a full changelog of everything that changed up until the current version to give you more of an overview.

Changelog:

  • Adjusted irradiance cache brightness and contribution behaviour
  • Fixed voxel reflections on water
  • Adjusted skylight to match Kappa Shader v5.2 more closely when it comes to fog and clouds
  • Updated TAA
  • Added rain particle rendering
  • Fixed wetness puddles when resourcepack reflections are disabled
  • Added an error screen when trying to run this pack on OptiFine
  • Fixed incorrect stained glass panes tinting
    • stained glass panes are still treated as full blocks, so they might not behave correctly in all situations
  • Improved responsiveness of the reflections accumulation
  • Reduced default specular bounces to two

NostalgiaVX P10d

I’ve also done some smaller changes on NostalgiaVX, though it’s nothing too exciting there this time. This changelog also includes the changes of every version since the last update post.

Changelog:

  • Added ACES reference gamut compression
    • Reduces “burned-out” saturated colours in some scenes
  • Added an error screen when trying to run this pack on OptiFine
  • Fixed incorrect stained glass panes tinting
    • stained glass panes are still treated as full blocks, so they might not behave correctly in all situations
