Supporter Updates 2022-10 #2

Oi folks,

I’ve done some more updates that should of interest to you, since they improve some smaller but important bits of UShader and Soft Voxels.

UShader v2.0 Preview E3

Apparently I forgot to also update the nighttime visuals to look correctly when I switched to the Rec2020 colourspace in preview E2, which has now been fixed and should once again give you a more blue-cyan and atmospheric nighttime as intended.

In addition to that I have adjusted the clouds, which means the volumetric clouds are now a little bit thicker and “puffier” while the cirrus clouds should blend a lot better with the rest of the sky. Specifically the latter looked a bit jarring before as some of you pointed out, so I’ve adjusted various internal parameters to achieve a softer blend without affecting the overall depth of the lighting on them.

Soft Voxels P5b

I have been working some more on the TAAU, as it suffered from some noticeable ghosting issues in certain scenes, which should be a bit less extreme now. Unfortunately I cannot eliminate the ghosting on entities for now, since I don’t have enough buffer attachment space to store the entity velocity until I need it at the end of the pipeline when doing TAAU. This is yet another issue with OptiFine restrictions as you might have guessed already, but thankfully Iris is once again making very good progress on catching up with the remaining missing features, so I might be able to work without having to worry about OptiFine anymore soon.
