Simplicissimus Shader v1.3 & Potato Shaders v1.0c

Hey folks,

It’s time for some more updates, this time for Simplicissimus Shader and Potato Shaders, both of which haven’t had an update for quite some time now.

Simplicissimus Shader v1.3

This update is long overdue, as the last official update was version 1.2, which was released back in 2020. This version obviously fixes a handful of issues that have appeared in Minecraft versions that have been released since then and it also includes a few more minor changes. An example would be the fact that the fog now covers the view-distance edge, along with some general improvements of the blending between sky and fog to make things appear a bit more seamless and pleasing to look at.

  • Fixed entities and normal maps in OptiFine for 1.16 and newer
  • Improved colour consistency across skybox and fog
  • Fixed lightmaps in Minecraft 1.17 and newer
  • Improved nether visuals
  • Nether now supports per-biome ambient tint
  • Fixed broken skybox when using Iris
  • Added a setting to control the display colour gamut
  • Improved shadowmap bias for reduced shadowmap acne and light leaking
  • Fixed incorrect translucency shadows
  • Removed vanilla entity shadows in the nether (Iris only)
  • Added fog when in lava
  • Added block mappings for Minecraft 1.20 foliage
  • Fog should no longer appear when in caves
  • Fixed water fogging when in caves

Potato Shaders v1.0c

I’ve mostly been focusing on fixing bugs in this pack, since there were a bunch of strange issues that started to appear with more recent Minecraft and OptiFine versions. Aside from that I’ve also been adjusting a few things here and there but overall there aren’t many differences and this is more of a maintenance update.

  • Fixed broken lightmaps with some Minecraft versions
  • Adjusted translucency blurring
  • Removed vanilla entity shadows (Iris only)
